This two-day lecture and hands on program will provide detailed methods to improve clinical patient care and will demonstrate how endodontic therapy can be precise, predictable and enjoyable. Endodontics has evolved considerably in the recent past with the aim of improving patient satisfaction while improving the clinical quality of care. During this course we will focus on various aspects of endodontic care spanning from diagnosis and access to precision instrumentation and obturation. The emphasis is based on clinical management of patients with the goal of acquiring the knowledge base for rendering efficient and predictable endodontic care while reducing file separation, ledging and transportation.

Presentation by Dr. Mario Abdennour:

Dr. Abedennour has been in clinical dentistry for the past 25 years, spending the first 10 years as a restorative dentist and then as an endodontist for the past 15 years. He is a certified RealWorldEndo lecturer.

Course Benefits/Highlights:

This course will cover phases of non-surgical endodontics such as access, diagnostic tools, biomechanical debridement, documentation and peri-radicular surgery:

Specifics will include:

1-Efficient rotary instrumentation: Advantages of conservative taper preparation as a new “Blended Technique” will be introduced that will result in safe, efficient instrumentation for all root canal types. Debridement of oval and irregular shaped canals, enhanced disinfection and benefits using piezoelectric ultrasonics, non- surgical endodontic re-treatment and advantages of integrated apex locator/hand-piece technology.

2-Hydraulic condensation as the latest 3-D obturation method incorporating bioceramic technology; obturation of large under-developed irregular canals and one visit apexification.

3- Restoration of endodontically treated teeth; perforation repair; efficient drill-less anatomical post preparation and placement; access trough crowns and post removal.

Hands on component will include:

Rotary instrumentation, obturation, perforation repair, drill-less post preparation and placement.?

At the conclusion of this course, participants will:

1. Understand the benefits of using both heat-treated and non-heat treated files together in one great technique.

2. Completely understand the need to utilize piezoelectric ultrasonics in both access and three-dimensional irrigation.

3. Fully appreciate the benefits of bio-ceramic bonded obturation and the incorporation of matching posts.

4. Recognize that ‘Great Endodontics’ can be accomplished in both a safe and simple manner.  The key is to combine new technology with long established, evidence-based endodontic principles.

Please bring any extracted accessed teeth with patent canals you may want to work on. Plastic teeth and plastic blocks with simulated canals will be provided for your convenience.
