 "Fixed Prosthodontics "

Dates: Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 2020

        Location: NYSAGD Learning Center, Whitestone, NY. 

            Registration 8:00 am, Lecture 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  

14 MCE Participation Credit Hours

This program is open to all dentists including pre-fellows as credit is applied towards Mastership.

 

Presentation by Dr. Siamak Najafi:

Dr. Siamak Najafi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and the Program Director of the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry. He earned his DDS degree at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU - Ex. National University) in Tehran, Iran in 2008. He was in private practice for 3 years when he decided to continue his education in the United States. Dr. Najafi completed the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry in 2012 and the Clinical Fellowship in Comprehensive Dentistry in 2013. In 2016, he completed a 3-year Advanced Education in Prosthodontics post graduate training at NYU College of Dentistry, where he was honored with an award as the top resident of his class. 


Prior to joining the NYU faculty, Dr. Najafi practiced in Chicago, Illinois as a Prosthodontist. He has been involved in multiple research activities and has co-authored articles in dental journals on various topics in Prosthodontics. He is actively giving lectures to different dental societies and study clubs. Dr. Najafi also maintains his private practice in NYU Dental Faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics in New York City.

Day-1 Friday 4/17/2020: 

  • 8:30 AM - 12:30PM: Incorporating Esthetics in Comprehensive Fixed Prosthodontics

Description: This course will review different steps in the process of smile reconstruction with partial and/or full coverage all-ceramic restorations, from diagnosis and treatment planning to cementation and maintenance phase. At the end, multiple clinical cases will be discussed to enhance this learning experience and help the attendee understand the art and science behind this process.

Learning objective: Upon successful completion of this course the attendee will have:

  1. In-depth understanding about the diagnosis and treatment planning for smile reconstruction cases with partial and/or full coverage all-ceramic restorations

  2. A thorough knowledge about every clinical steps in esthetic cases

  3. Adequate literature to select proper material and techniques in such cases

  • 1:00PM – 4:00PM: Veneer Cementation Hands-on

Description: In this course, anterior veneers will be provided to attendee to practice the cementation procedure on already-prepped typodont teeth.

                        Learning objective: 

  1. Several clinical tips will be reviewed.

  2. Different steps of few popular resin cements will be reviewed.

  3. Advanced tips and tricks will be explained to increase the durability of the veneers

Day-2 Saturday 4/18/2020:

  • 8:30 AM - 12:30PM: Principles and Clinical Steps to Full-Mouth Reconstructions

Description: This course will review the principles and guidelines to treatment plan full mouth reconstructions as well as reviewing the steps from start to complete the case.

Learning objective: Upon successful completion of this course the attendee will have:

  1. In-depth understanding of how to approach full mouth cases

  2. Better understanding to the armamentarium needed for full mouth cases

  3. Better understanding to the principles and guideline to approach full mouth cases

  4. The chance to discuss multiple clinical cases to increase their understanding about tooth supported, implant supported or mixed cases.

  • 1:00PM – 4:00PM: Review of Material and Design Considerations in Implant-Supported Prostheses

Description: This course will teach restoring implants in order to restore esthetic and function. The course will review different options for implant supported prostheses along with the material options available.

                        Learning objective:

  1. Understanding different factors involved in a successful implant supported prostheses

  2. Reviewing different options for designing implant supported prostheses

  3. Reviewing material selection criteria for different component of implant supported prostheses

  4. Discussing multiple clinical cases to enhance this learning experience

 

(includes breakfasts. lunches, materials and case presentation session in 6 months)

Course Code: 610  

The Empire State Mastership Track is a “Protocol” program that complies with the standards and guidelines of AGD’s Council on Dental Education. In order to receive full participation credit the participant will be required to do a case presentation based on an in-office procedure that reflects the material taught by the instructor. The fee for this program includes the case presentation session, held approximately 6 months after the initial meeting.  This program is open to all dentists including pre-fellows as credit is applied towards Mastership.

The New York State constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry is an approved PACE provider.  The sponsor's formal CDE programs are acceptable by the AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and maintenance credit.  Approval does not imply acceptance by a state of provincial board of dentistry. The current term of approval extends from 1/01/19 to 12/31/20.  AGD Code#219318
