The New York AGD Learning Center Presents Common Oral Mucosal Diseases: With An Update on Management Date: Sunday, February 24, 2019 Location: 1902 Whitestone Epressway, Suite 204, Whitestone, NY 11357 Course 9:00am to 12:00pm Course Codes: 730 Presentation by: Dr. Denise Trochesset Denise A. Trochesset, DDS is Clinical Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine at New York University College of Dentistry where she is Director of the Diagnostic Pathology Laboratory. A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, she completed a one year General Practice Residency at the West Haven Veterans Administration Medical Center in Connecticut prior to working in private practice for ten years. Dr. Trochesset left private practice to pursue her interests in oral pathology. She completed a three-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at New York Hospital, Queens and joined the faculty at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in 2002. That year she also became a fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and attained her specialty boards in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Trochesset was at Stony Brook University with sole responsibility for teaching oral and maxillofacial pathology and oral medicine to the dental students and postdoctoral residents for 14 years and rose to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Trochesset initiated and was Director of the biopsy service - Stony Brook Oral Pathology. Additionally, she had an active faculty practice in clinical oral pathology/oral medicine until 2017. At NYU Dr. Trochesset oversees a large and varied department including clinical, didactic and research programs. She teaches pathology to the second-year dental students and oral and maxillofacial pathology to the postdoctoral students in pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Research interests are focused on cone beam CT use in forensic dental identification, oral mucosal disease and investigating the use of reflectance confocal microscopy in identification of epithelial dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma. Course Goals and Objectives: Goal: Refresher for oral mucosal lesions and current management techniques. The participant will learn how to recognize oral mucosal lesions including: reactive, infectious, developmental disease and neoplastic diseases. Participants will be able to manage common oral mucosal diseases with up to date therapy and know when to biopsy or refer.
New York AGD is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and membership maintenance credit.
