 Instructor Qualifications - Terri Soules

Dr. Jeffrey Galler is a general dentist who has maintained a private, fee-for-service practice in Brooklyn, New York, for over 30 years. He lectures internationally, and has authored over 50 articles in various dental journals. Dr. Galler is Chairman of the New York State Dental Association Peer Review and Quality Assurance Council, and is a visiting lecturer at the Staten Island University Hospital and the City University School of Dental Hygiene.  He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow in the American Society of Dentistry for Children, a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, a Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and a Fellow in the International College of Dentists.  He is a recipient of the Lifelong Learning and Service Award from the Academy of General Dentistry, and the 2010 Journalism Award from the American Association of Dental Editors.  He is the Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics, and has recently authored an on-line continuing education course for the American Dental Association on the topic, “Top Ten Techniques for Enhancing Success with Posterior Resins.” He is passionate in his belief that the best way to establish, grow, and maintain a healthy general dentistry practice, is to gain a reputation for being “great with children.”

Course Description: 

Being able to treat children skillfully, efficiently, and cheerfully, and attaining up-to-date clinical skills with pediatric patients is a sure way to generate many referrals from grateful parents. Effective methods for treating the pediatric patient will be presented.

Topics to be discussed:

  • Behavioral techniques for handling difficult children and difficult parents
  • Procedures that can make a child's visit more pleasant and productive
  • The use of newer filling materials and matrix systems, glass ionomers, pediatric applications of radiosurgery, computerized local anesthetics, stainless steel crowns, esthetic pediatric crowns, space maintainers, fluoride varnishes, and sealants

During the Hands-On portion of the presentation, participants will:

  • Fabricate a band and loop "chairside" space maintainer
  • Practice restoring typodont teeth with different types of child-friendly matrix systems
  • Try out new restorative materials, glass ionomers, and sealants
  • Perform computerized injections on typodonts
  • Learn how to use Zirconia pediatric crowns, fissurotomy burs, and fluoride varnish

CANCELLATION POLICIES: All registrations are subject to a cancellation fee of $10.00 and there is a $25.00 walk-in fee. 

The New York State constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry is an approved PACE provider.  The sponsor's formal CDE programs are acceptable by the AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and maintenance credit.  Approval does not imply acceptance by a state of provincial board of dentistry. The current term of approval extends from 1/01/11 to 12/31/14.  AGD Code#219318
