Course Goals and Objectives
Performing lifesaving techniques and choosing the appropriate medicine and equipment is far more challenging in the dental office than in other settings. As healthcare professionals and doctors, you are held to a much higher standard of care. In order to achieve this goal, dentists and their staff should take a course that combines CPR and emergency medicine in dentistry. Topics my course will cover are as follows:
Signs & Symptoms and Definitive Care
- Heart Attacks/CPR Emergency Drug Kits
-
Stroke Medical history
-
Anaphylactic reactions Blood Pressure
-
Mild and moderate allergic reactions Legal aspects
-
Angina Pectoris Standard of care
-
Seizures Positive pressure oxygen masks
-
Asthmatic Bronchospasm Dental chairs and operatory
-
Syncope Emergency plans with role designation
-
Hyposlycemia Drug overdose
In addition Heartsaver will give you information as to what is needed in your Emergencies Kit and what equipment you should have on-hand. There will also be a demonstration of the newest state of the Automatic External Defibrillator. CPR cards will be mailed directly to attendees from the American Heart Association.
Continental breakfast will be served.
