Presentations by: Dr. Michael Ferguson D.M.D., C.A.G.S., & Lilliana Ortiz-Camacho, DDS
Dr. Michael Ferguson D.M.D., C.A.G.S., completed his D.M.D. training and PG Certificate at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He has taught pre-doctoral and postdoctoral residents in dentistry at Boston University School of Dental Medicine ('89-'95) and at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine as well as at the Harvard Medical School ('96-2004).
In 2004 he joined the faculty at NYU College of Dentistry. He is currently the Co-Director of Pre-doctoral Fixed Clinical Prosthodontics at NYU College of Dentistry. His clinical areas of expertise include diagnosis, treatment planning, and restorative dentistry. He has been an active clinician, researcher and teacher since 1989. Dr. Ferguson practices Restorative and Implant Dentistry at the NYU Dental Faculity Practice in New York City.
Lilliana Ortiz Camacho DDS, received her DDS degree from Universidad del Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Dr. Ortiz is a Board Certified Prosthodontist, a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the NYU College of Dentistry, where she is the Co-Director of Removable Prosthodontics Clinic for 3rd & 4th year dental students, Director of the Advanced Prosthodontics course and Prosthodontic leader in the Center of People with Disabilities.
Course Goals and Objectives
This series of 3 sessions will guide attendees with valuable information in prosthodontics and cosmetic dentistry
During these lectures, the participants will:
Recognize the Importance of Shade Matching
Understanding the Fundamentals of Color Perception
Discuss the impact of improper shade matching on patient satisfaction and aesthetic outcomes.
Familiarize participants with commonly used dental shade guides.
Understand the ACP Classification System, rationale, principles, and applications in clinical practice
Able to apply the ACP classification system to categorize patients based on their dental conditions, including the extent of edentulism, the presence of natural teeth, and the need for prosthodontic treatment
Understanding Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI): To develop a comprehensive understanding of clinical manifestations
To understand the unique aesthetic challenges posed by AI and learn strategies for achieving optimal aesthetic outcomes while preserving tooth structure and function.

The New York State constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry is an approved program provider. The sponsor’s formal CDE programs are acceptable by the AGD for Fellowship and Mastership and membership maintenance credit. This course is also acceptable for MCE Licensing Maintenance.
