Friday, November 1 - Presentation by Dr. Chandra Kale   "Orthodontic Diagnosis" Subject code: 370 

Chanda Kale, DDS is a graduate of Nair Dental College in Bombay, India and NYUCD and completed the NYUCD Implant and Prosthetic Program. Dr. Kale is a faculty member at NYUCD, maintains a private practice in Brooklyn, N.Y. in general dentistry and orthodontics, and is the founder and coordinator of The Brooklyn Implant Study Club.

Course Description:

  • Understanding malocclusion dental and skeletal components

  • Common cephalometric: Landmarks and their relationship to understanding malocclusion

  • Practice application in daily practice

Saturday, November 2 - 8:30am to 4:00pm - Presentation by Dr. William Bongiorno "Intra-Oral Photography" Subject code: 138

Dr. William Bongiorno graduated from Seton Hall University in 1969 with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He attend the New York University College of Dentistry in 1969 and graduated in 1973.  He was appointed clinical instructor and also taught in preclinical dental anatomy and operative dentistry. Worked in various dental of?ces during my tenure while working at the college and then opened my own where he has been practicing for 43 years. He started teaching again in 2007 as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Cariology and comprehensive care as a part-time employee of the college. He was then appointed as a full-time employee in the department of Cariology Comprehensive Care as a clinical instructor.
Dr. Bongiorno serves on the Board of trustees of the Second District Dental Society, the Organizing Committee of the Greater New York Dental Meeting  (GNYDM ) and current President for the last 3 years of the Alumni Association of New York University College of Dentistry.

Course Description:

Depending on objective of the photography, specific criteria will be discussed. These include lenses, the use of these lenses, cameras and principles of sensor size and depth of field. Specific criteria may be necessary such as lighting, sensor size and the lenses that are chosen depending on use. Digital intra-oral scans can be used simulating intra-oral photography allowing an infinite change in position post scanning for presentation using Power Point or case presentation to patients. 
There are many different kinds of cameras that are used in intra-oral photography, some expensive options are not necessary and less expensive cameras can be used. Others, depending on use may be more costly. In addition, the accessories needed to produce great intra oral photographs will be described and demonstrated. These include retractors, mirrors and contrast accessories.

The Empire State Mastership Track is a “Protocol” program that complies with the standards and guidelines of AGD’s Council on Dental Education. In order to receive full participation credit the participant will be required to do a case presentation based on an in-office procedure that reflects the material taught by the instructor. The fee for this program includes the case presentation session, held approximately 6 months after the initial meeting.  This program is open to all dentists including pre-fellows as credit is applied towards Mastership.

New York AGD is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and membership maintenance credit. Approval does not imply acceptance by a state or provincial board of dentistry or AGD endorsement.
