Empire State Spring MasterTrack Program 

 "Removable Dental Prosthesis (RDP): From Treatment Planning to Design"

Dates: Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9, 2022

        Location: NYSAGD Learning Center, 1902 Whitestone Expressway, Whitestone, NY 11357-Suite 204

            Lecture 8:30 am to 4:30 pm 

14 MCE Participation Credit Hours / Course Code: 670 

Participants will receive up to 34 MCE participation credit hours towards mastership

Upon completion of their presentation at the Spring 2023 Empire State Masters Program 

This program is open to all dentists including pre-fellows as credit is applied towards Mastership

Case presentations for Occlusion will be held Sunday Evening on October 2 via Zoom

 

Presentation by Dr. Siamak Najafi:

Dr. Siamak Najafi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and the Program Director of the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry at NYU College of Dentistry. He earned his DDS degree at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU - Ex. National University) in Tehran, Iran in 2008. He was in private practice for 3 years when he decided to continue his education in the United States. Dr. Najafi completed the Advanced Program for International Dentists in Comprehensive Dentistry in 2012 and the Clinical Fellowship in Comprehensive Dentistry in 2013. In 2016, he completed a 3-year Advanced Education in Prosthodontics post graduate training at NYU College of Dentistry, where he was honored with an award as the top resident of his class. Prior to joining the NYU faculty, Dr. Najafi practiced in Chicago, Illinois as a Prosthodontist. He has been involved in multiple research activities and has co-authored articles in dental journals on various topics in Prosthodontics. He is actively giving lectures to different dental societies and study clubs. Dr. Najafi also maintains his private practice in NYU Dental Faculty practice limited to Prosthodontics in New York City.

Day-1 Friday: 

8:30 AM - 12:30PM: RDP: Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
Description: This course will review the comprehensive examination and diagnosis phase of partial edentulous patients when treatment planning for removable dental prosthesis. At the end, different prosthodontic factors in treatment planning phase will be discussed.
Learning objective: Upon successful completion of this course the attendee will have:
1.    In-depth understanding about the element that need to be observed and considered in the examination phase
2.    Thorough knowledge about partial edentulism and the diagnosis phase
3.    Adequate knowledge for a proper treatment planning and different modules

1:00PM – 4:00PM: RDP: Components and Study of Forces 
Description: In this course, different components of the RDP will be reviewed. The fundamental knowledge about the occlusal forces in different edentulism for designing RDPs will be reviewed.
 Learning objective:  
1.    Participant will learn different components of RDP. 
2.    Participant will have in-depth understanding of the occlusal forces in different partial edentulous scenarios.
3.    Participant will learn fundamental knowledge for the next course in this series: RDP Design.

Day-2 Saturday:

8:30 AM - 12:30PM: RDP Design for Different Clinical Scenarios 
Description: In this course the indications and contraindications of different RDP components will be reviewed and RDP designs in different clinical scenarios will be reviewed.

Learning objective: Upon successful completion of this course the attendee will have:
1.    In-depth understanding of indication and contra-indication of different RDP designs.
2.    Full understanding of how to design RDP design and a proper communication with the lab technician.
1:00PM – 4:00PM: RDP: Components and Designs-Hands on
Description: In this hands-on, the participants will practice designing RDPs for several clinical scenarios. Communication with the lab technician will also be practiced in every case. 
Learning objective: 
1.    RDPs for several clinical scenarios will be designed and discussed. 
2.    At the end of this hands-on, participant will have complete understanding to design RDP for any clinical cases and communicate properly and efficiently with the lab technician.

The Empire State Mastership Track is a “Protocol” program that complies with the standards and guidelines of AGD’s Council on Dental Education. In order to receive full participation credit the participant will be required to do a case presentation based on an in-office procedure that reflects the material taught by the instructor. The fee for this program includes the case presentation session, held approximately 6 months after the initial meeting.  This program is open to all dentists including pre-fellows as credit is applied towards Mastership.

The New York State constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry is an approved PACE provider.  The sponsor's formal CDE programs are acceptable by the AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and maintenance credit.  Approval does not imply acceptance by a state of provincial board of dentistry. The current term of approval extends from 1/01/21 to 12/31/22.  AGD Code#219318
