Presentation by Dr. James Dunn
Dr. Dunn currently practices in Auburn, California.  He is a member of the ADA, The Chicago Dental Society, The American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American and International Association of Dental Research, and The Academy of Dental Materials. He is a Gordon Christensen Award recipient of the Chicago Dental Society and Educator of the Year from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has been Principal investigator of numerous clinical and laboratory research projects in dental materials science and presented the results to both the International Association of Dental Research and the Academy of Dental Materials.  He has presented both lectures and workshops to most major dental societies and meetings in the US and overseas in the clinical use of tooth colored restoratives, Esthetics, and Digital Photography.
 
Course Goals and Objectives
This class will review the materials and techniques available in bleaching, minimal intervention with glass ionomers, direct composites, bonded ceramics, periodontal alterations and implant restorations to give patients the smiles they want while conserving natural tooth structure. Using communication quality digital photographs is an essential aspect of aesthetic treatment, showing patients their current condition and treatment options, and clear communication with specialists and laboratories. Quality images are essential to a dental practice in this age of visual learning and marketing.
 
Learning Outcomes:
1.   Review aesthetic tooth conserving materials and clinical techniques
2.  The role of quality visual communication in patient treatment and communication with specialists and   laboratories.
3.   Understand the perceived link between quality dental treatment and quality visual communication.
