Dental Management of Medically Complex patients has been a challenge for dental practitioners for diverse reasons. Although dentistry is represented as low risk for adverse events and complications, select medical complexities require specific dental management and modifications to avoid unwanted side effects. The ultimate goal of the dental practitioner is their patient's wellbeing and the success of the proposed dental treatment. Common chronic diseases may require medical management using pharmacotherapeutics to control the disease. This is a very important aspect that is sometimes disregarded. Side effects and interactions of these prescriptions may have a detrimental impact on the success of some dental therapies as well as require dental management. Knowledge of laboratory tests or interpretation of vital signs is an important skill for all dentists to have in order to assess the stability of the disease.
